We had a rush of blood to the brain about building a bunk bed for our senior German Shepherd X dog, who likes jumping onto the very high bed but is loath to get off again, and he’s getting older, so we were looking for something both big and sturdy. We drew up a plan (novice 3d graphics users) and then figured out the dimensions as we went. We were busy saving up for the wood for this project when I stumbled across an advert for plastic planks on Facebook… I thought that this would be a great idea as we would never have to worry about upkeep or paint or splinters…
I Googled and sent out a few quote requests, but Kim from Lavaplastic came back to me and I could tell she was the real deal. The reviews on Google also helped me decide that these people would offer great service, even though there are local suppliers that I could’ve used.
She asked for the a drawing of our idea and I could send her the schematic, giving her the dimensions and she helped me work out the kinks. I approved her final quote, as she added the needed supports and screws so our project would arrive ready to assemble. We got it shipped from Lavaplastic in Natal to Pretoria in about 3 days.
When the package came we were very happy to see that they drilled our holes for us, assembled some of the brackets that could be shipped flat, and numbered where each plank should be attached to. It took us about 10 minutes to assemble the rest.
It’s nice and sturdy. The colour is awesome and I think I will get use out of it for decades. Thanks Kim and team for your hard work and helpful service.
Now I want some garden benches and a table too…
